Siriam never imagined how much her life would change when she tuned in to Hope Channel Inter-America one quiet evening. Grief had wrapped itself around her heart after the loss of her young son, Adiel. The days blurred into each other. Conversations became painful reminders. Friends often didn’t know what to say. As the world outside moved on, Siriam felt frozen in sorrow. She longed for peace, but peace seemed so far away.

That’s when, one evening, she stumbled across Don't Give Up. There Is Still Hope, a week-long evangelistic series broadcast through Hope Channel Inter-America. The words reached into the silence of her broken heart like a whisper of life. Night after night, she tuned in, not even sure she believed healing was possible. Yet, she was unable to turn away from the hope she sensed there.

One night, while following along online, a comment caught her eye. A young mother named Gabriela had posted a simple, heartbreaking plea asking for prayers for her son, who was battling leukemia.

Immediately, Siriam was taken back to the initial impact of her loss. She knew that kind of pain well. She knew the helplessness, the heartbreak, the prayers whispered in the middle of the night when no one else could see the tears. And in that moment, God opened a door.

With trembling courage, Siriam reached out. At first, there was no response. The weeks passed, but Siriam didn’t give up. Quietly and faithfully, she continued reaching out, offering prayers, Bible studies, and encouragement. She was committed to providing constant small acts of kindness to remind Gabriela she was not alone.

Eventually, Gabriela responded. Through messages, Scriptures, and prayers shared across the distance, a friendship was born – one rooted in hope. Siriam even connected Gabriela with a local Adventist pastor near her home. And soon, Gabriela made the life-changing decision to follow Jesus through baptism.

But another miracle was still unfolding. As Siriam reached out to help bring healing to another heart, God was quietly healing hers, too. Over time, she began to reflect on what that season had taught her about grief, purpose, and hope.

“If before I wanted with all my heart that Jesus would come soon… now, after my son’s death, I count the minutes. I count the seconds.” Her grief didn’t end her mission, it deepened it. “I am convinced that we are chosen to prepare the way for His Second Coming,” she said.

As Proverbs 11:25 reminds us, “Whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.” That’s exactly what happened as Siriam stepped out to help Gabriela. God began to restore her heart too, giving her a renewed purpose and revived hope.
