It was past midnight in Marikina City, Philippines, and the world outside felt eerily still. Yet, Miguelito’s mind was anything but quiet. He stared at the dark ceiling above his bed, consumed by countless worries: an empty bank account, broken friendships, and a desperation he’d tried to mask with addictions and hollow pleasures. With each passing hour, regret and anxiety grew. Sleep was impossible.

Feeling defeated, he slipped out of bed, walked to the living room, and turned on the TV. Click. Click. Channel after channel blurred by. Then suddenly, something different. A program called Journey to Ultimate Prosperity caught his attention. The speaker’s words felt personal, like an answer to the very questions that haunted him. 

The channel? Hope Channel Philippines. 

Night after night, Miguelito returned to watch. Everything he heard aligned with the Bible verses he’d begun exploring after a relative encouraged him to read Scripture. Although he felt hesitant about religion and had long avoided visiting a Seventh-day Adventist church, each broadcast stirred hope, softened his heart, and sparked a deeper curiosity about God. Eventually, he realized the church behind these programs was right in his neighborhood.

Taking a bold step of faith, Miguelito chose to visit the very church he had long avoided. Today, Miguelito, his wife, and all four of their children are baptized members of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. He now serves faithfully as a deacon, helping others find the same hope he once thought was out of reach. 

That’s the power of the gospel and the miracle of media ministry.

In Acts chapter 8, we read about another journey. An Ethiopian official was reading Scripture but couldn’t quite understand it. God sent Philip to meet him on a dusty road, and that timely encounter led to baptism and a transformed life. Just like that, when people are truly searching, like Miguelito was, God sends answers, sometimes through a TV screen at midnight.
