Serving the Lord

Dear Lord,

Thank You for the unexpected ways You call us. Thank You for taking young hearts and turning simple acts of service into sacred moments of surrender. Please bless the reader of this letter and use their gifts to inspire and equip more young people to serve You wholeheartedly. Amen.

We often picture mission as preaching to crowds or traveling to faraway places. But sometimes, it looks like one young person stepping into a media booth and finding Christ behind the lens.

After long hospital shifts, Ambrose King’ori didn’t go home to rest. He went straight to the media booth, not because he had to, but because he couldn’t stay away.

He was a nursing student at the University of Eastern Africa, Baraton. On paper, his volunteer role with Hope Channel Baraton was simple: help broadcast worship services. Adjust the lighting. Manage the livestream. Keep things running.

But in those quiet hours behind the camera, the message he was helping to share started speaking directly to his heart.

He didn’t expect the sermons to begin making an impact, but week after week, as he stood quietly behind the lens, the truths he heard began stirring questions within him: Was he ready for Christ’s return? What did true worship look like? Could his profession support something deeper, something eternal?

Broadcasting sermons wasn’t just technical work anymore, it was part of a bigger calling. His heart was being pulled toward purpose and surrender.

“I realized I didn’t want to be left out of the Second Coming,” Ambrose said. “Therefore, I boldly decided to surrender my life to Christ and affirm my faith through baptism and true worship.”

Ambrose didn’t just walk away from his media role changed, he walked forward with a renewed calling. He began leading the media team. He served his community intentionally. Whether behind a camera or beside a hospital bed, he committed to living out Colossians 3:23: “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord.”

And Ambrose wasn’t the only one.

Tevin, Dalmas, Wilson, and Jeremiah–all students– also came to Hope Channel Baraton to serve. They managed livestreams, edited sermons, and ran cameras. Although they weren’t looking for transformation, it found them anyway.

Tevin said the messages he helped broadcast opened his eyes to God’s calling. “Hope Channel Baraton was a light to me,” he shared. “It guided me to grow in faith and prepared me for baptism.”

For Dalmas, it was a quiet moment that shifted everything: “There comes a moment when the heart can no longer remain silent,” he said. Surrounded by Christ-centered messages, he surrendered to God’s love.

Wilson found his faith deepening through every broadcast. The spiritual conversations and sense of mission gave him the courage to fully commit his life to Jesus.

Jeremiah had always felt drawn to the Adventist faith. But it was through the messages and community at Hope Channel Baraton that his heart opened to the Holy Spirit and he chose to be baptized.

They came as volunteers. They left as disciples. Behind every screen, God was working.
