Hope Channel Singapore Adds Chinese Website to Share the Gospel of Jesus

Hope Channel Singapore has added a Chinese-language website alongside its English one, with programs on faith, health, and family life. English and Mandarin are the two languages most spoken in Singapore homes, according to the 2025 General Household Survey. To run both sites and their social accounts, the channel now works remotely with teams across the Hope Channel Network.

The collaboration took shape during the Network Leadership Conference, a gathering of Hope Channel leaders held from July 2 to 7, 2026, in Auckland, New Zealand. Christon Choo, director of Hope Channel Singapore, said he went to the conference in search of a way forward for the channel. "I thought that we wouldn't be able to do much, because we had no staff in Singapore," he said.

During dinner on opening night, Choo met Kevin Lo of Hope Channel Taiwan. They discussed a Chinese-language website for Singapore, and Taiwan's team later helped develop it and supplied content.

The next day, Choo met Johnster Calibod, president of Hope Channel Philippines. Within the week, Calibod introduced him to Sam Labag. "By day two, I already realized God was doing something special with Hope Channel Singapore," Choo said. He left the conference with programs from Hope Channel New Zealand and a connection to Hope Channel Southeast Asia. 

Labag now runs the English website and social media remotely, while Doreen Neo helps manage the Chinese platforms. Another conversation led to training on how to share content online, connect with people who respond, and follow up on their interest.

The English website stayed active throughout. In August, Choo and his colleagues added content, launched new social media accounts, and advertised the English site. By September 4, the Chinese website and its Facebook page were live.

The channel received 37 messages during the first week of advertising, Choo said. Fourteen were requests for prayer while others were requests for information about Hope Channel Singapore, small groups, how to find a community, children's programs, or volunteering.

Choo also serves as executive secretary of the Singapore Conference, the church's national administrative office. "After the Conference office closes, I pick up my daughters from school and head home. After dinner, reading the Bible and putting them to bed, I open my laptop at about 10 p.m. and follow up on Hope Channel work with Sam and Doreen, who assist Hope Channel Singapore with our English and Chinese websites and socials respectively," he said.

"We look at how to improve our online presence and how to reach more people in Singapore for Christ. We might not have a media team in Singapore, but with God's providence we can still be a beacon of Hope in Singapore online," Choo said.
